Aluminium profile mat with rib insert and one ramp profile: installed directly on the floor, without a mat well and without building work.
In an existing building, the mat well is usually the real obstacle: the screed is in place, the floor covering has been laid, and the floor would have to be broken up to create a recess. This version avoids that completely – the mat is laid directly on the existing substrate, the ramp profile forms a threshold ramp on the access side and bridges the height difference created by an overall height of just 18 mm. As a result, the transition remains comfortable, accessible and suitable for both foot traffic and wheeled traffic – including wheelchairs, shopping trolleys or wheeled suitcases. The rib carpet absorbs residual moisture from footwear and retains fine dirt before it is carried indoors.
The version with a ramp profile on one side is chosen when the mat is walked on or driven over from one direction only – for example directly in front of a door or adjoining a wall. If the area is approached from both sides, the version with ramp profiles on both sides is the right choice; technically, both are identical and differ only in the number of ramp profiles. Since the mat is not installed into the floor, the system can also be used in rented premises and removed again when required, without altering the floor construction.
This profile height is designed for entrance areas with low footfall: up to 50 people per day, with a recommended area of 4–6 m² as a single zone. Typical buildings are family homes as well as small offices and medical practices. The rib insert is approved for use only indoors and in covered outdoor areas – Zones 2 and 3. It absorbs moisture from footwear and retains fine dirt, but it is not designed for permanently wet conditions or for uncovered outdoor areas.
The version with a ramp profile is the right solution wherever there is no mat well or one cannot be created: in existing buildings, in rented premises and for renovations without altering the floor construction. Not suitable for forklift trucks or construction hoists.
The mat is laid directly on the existing substrate, without a mat well. Depending on the location and the condition of the substrate, it is fixed with special construction adhesive or with expansion plugs – for secure fixing that prevents the mat from slipping. The ramp profile is fitted in the front-to-back direction of the mat, i.e. at the end face of the first or last support profile; in this version, on one side. The height of the ramp profile depends on the profile height of the mat (12 mm), not on the overall height. Before fixing with expansion plugs or screws, check where any underfloor heating pipes run.
